Wiper Party Leader  Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has said that both National Super Alliance (NASA) and Jubilee cannot afford to ignore independent candidates as we head to the next general polls.

Kalonzo, who was speaking to the press on Saturday, said that major political parties were not ready to lose nominations losers who opted to contest as independents in the forthcoming general election. 

The Ukambani political kingpin noted that it will not be a shock to see independent candidates walking away with various seats when that time comes.

“If you’re not careful you can end up with a political party which has got all the votes for President and the deputy but all other seats have gone to this party called independents and I think this concept of independent candidates was not adequately addressed at the level of the national assembly,” he said as quoted by Capital FM.

The remarks of the former Vice President come after Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga said that the alliance will not back Independent candidates in the August elections.

Independents candidates have continued to rally the electorate as they seek to floor politicians fronted by different political parties in the August polls.

The independent candidates are vying for different posts including The Presidency, Governor, MP, senator, women rep and Members of the County Assembly.
