Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has suffered yet another political blow after Machakos senator Johnson Muthama, dumped him.
The lawmaker disowned the Nasa presidential running-mate, saying he has been imposing leaders to the people of Ukambani.Muthama's move comes barely two weeks, after Kitui senator and Wiper chairman David Musila, dumped Kalonzo and resigned from his position at the party, citing frustrations and Kalonzo's influence in Kitui gubernatorial, Wiper party ticket, during primaries.The is seen as a major blow to the former Vice President's support from his Ukambani region, where he is seen as the political kingpin, even as elections approach.
"He has been imposing leaders on the people of Ukambani. From Machakos to Kitui to Makueni. The people in this region should be allowed to chose who they want as their leaders. I am not backing Kalonzo on this,'' Muthama said, citing Wiper's move, to allow Wavinya Ndeti fly the ticket to oust Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua.
Speaking, Monday, Muthama, a strong ally of Kalonzo, however did not say if he had defected Wiper, or planned to do so.
