Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has suggested that the government should lease election equipment to be used during the 2017 general election.

Speaking on Saturday, the Cord co-principal said that leasing of the equipment will save the government Sh10 billion.

He further stated that leasing will seal loopholes that could lead to election malpractices.

“The process of procuring BVR kits could be unnecessarily lengthy and open to manipulation.Rigging begins in the procurement of electoral materials and registration of voters,” Kalonzo said.

The former vice president who was speaking in Voi stated that hiring the biometric voter registration kits from experienced dealers will be cheaper than buying new ones.
