Opposition leaders took the political war against the ruling Jubilee coalition to the home turf of Majority Leader Aden Duale, where they accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto of failing Kenyans.
The leaders who were welcomed by ecstatic supporters asked residents across the country to register in large numbers from Monday in order to remove the Jubilee Party from power in the August polls.
Addressing a rally at Garissa Primary School playgrounds in Garissa town, CORD co-principals said they will not be cowed by threats of arrest and detention and will continue to tell Kenyans the ills of the ruling administration.
Kalonzo said voters must not give Jubilee an opportunity to extend their bad rule beyond the August 8. The Wiper leader said Duale was targeting Kamba community voters after sensing defeat in the coming polls.
Kalonzo Musyoka was accompanied by Mombasa Governor Ali Joho, Wiper Party chairman David Musila, Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, Mombasa County Women Rep Mishi Mboko, Makali Mulu (Kitui Central MP) and Wiper Party's Kitui senatorial aspirant Enoch Wambua.
The Wiper Party leader asked Kenyans to embrace diversity and co-existence, adding that leaders who preach tribal hatred must be shunned.
"We are in Garissa to preach peace among communities living here. And I want to tell Duale that the Kamba community is not his enemy. Duale's worst enemy is his own mouth," Wambua said.
While drumming up support for former Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim, the Wiper leader accused Jubilee administration of killing devolution, claiming governors have been dragged to court on numerous trumped up charges.
He said opposition leaders will stand in solidarity with Mombasa governor against the Jubilee Government's intimidation. He even promised to be on Joho's defense team if he is arrested.
