Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will host his NASA co-principals in Machakos in two weeks as the opposition cements plans to swear-in former prime minister Raila Odinga as the 'peoples' president'.

The meeting will be attended by governors elected on NASA-affiliate parties and is also foreshadowed to be graced by all opposition-allied elected leader from Ukambani region.

On Thursday, it emerged that beginning January 6, Raila will embark on a tour of Western Kenya with trips to Busia and Kakamega where People’s Assembly gatherings will be held before he alongside ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula tour Ukambani region.

The main agenda for the Machakos meeting is to launch the regional People’s Assembly forum.

North-Eastern region is also in the opposition’s map with a planned joint meeting in Garissa town, before the leaders head to Mombasa for a rally in the run-up to the ‘swearing in’.

Narok, Migori and Kisii counties have also been scheduled to launch the people’s assemblies with Gusii stadium expected to host the last rally before the ‘inauguration’.

With the momentum now at its peak, NASA is expected to stage a grand rally on the last Tuesday of January where the inauguration of the national People’s Assembly will be done.

Machakos is led by Governor Dr Alfred Mutua who was re-elected on a Maendeleo Chap Chap party which backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election during the August 8 and October 26 repeat elections- although majority of the MCAs were elected through parties that constitute NASA.Machakos is among counties that recently passed the Peoples' Assembly Motion that the opposition is banking on to 'give' Raila and Kalonzo 'power' to lead.
