In a statement to newsrooms by State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu on Wednesday, Kalonzo confirmed this after a consultative meeting with leaders from the region was held in State House on Wednesday morning.

"The Head of State will proceed to the region on a three-day tour where he will steer a development agenda for Ukambani," reads Esipisu's statement.

"On June 10 the Head of State will be in Machakos before proceeding to Kitui on June 11 and 12. The President will finalise at Makueni on June 13."

Esipisu says that the 12 Ukambani-MPs delegation which was led by Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu was delighted that they would have more time to prepare for the projects lined up for commissioning after the President's visit to the area this month was canceled.

"The leaders acknowledged the extraordinary circumstances that led to the postponement of the visit. They were delighted that it had allowed them time to prepare and to ensure that all projects to be commissioned are ready," says Esipisu.

Reports indicate that the ongoing anti-IEBC protests in various parts of the country, could have partly contributed in the President rescheduling his visit to the region.
