Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit out at Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama over calls for the entire Ukambani region to support the party.
This comes after the senator demanded smaller parties in the region to dissolve and merge into Wiper.
Speaking during the burial of former paramount chief Savano Maveke in Matungulu, the senator urged Ukambani residents to only elect leaders seeking different seats on a Wiper ticket.
However, Kalonzo, asked Muthama to desist from making the calls, adding that all parties have a right to exist.
“I want to correct Senator Muthama here on the issue of those other parties. We all belong to the same family as they also have the right to exist,” said Kalonzo, as quoted by The Star.
His words were reiterated by Wavinya Ndeti who intends to vie for the Machakos governor's seat on a Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) Party ticket.
Ndeti criticised Muthama, saying leaders should not imposed on voters.
“The voters must be granted the opportunity to elect who they want,” said Ndeti, as quoted by the daily.
