Leaders from Kitui are putting pressure on the Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to intervene on who should be nominated to run in the Kitui West by-elections.

After the death of Francis Nyenze on 6th December, the Kitui West parliamentary seat was left vacant, with many people calling up for the late Nyenze’s window, Edith Vethi to be handed a direct ticket.

This call has been reiterated by a section of leaders including Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Senator Enoch Wambua. However, this was different for Kalonzo who said, “No, no I don’t want to take that route my sister Ngilu. I mitigate carefully before making any decision. Let’s give all aspirants a level chance to seek the party nomination to build confidence and trust in the party now and in days to come.”

More candidates are lining up for running for this seat including former Cabinet Minister Nyavi Mwendwa’s son Maluki Kitili, who are family friends with Kalonzo Musyoka. Also, Ekuru Aukot’s Thirdway Alliance has hinted on fielding Ben Mbai in running for Kitui West by-elections.
