Photo/ kenyanewsagency.go.keWiper members in Mombasa County have urged party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ensure the party nominations are conducted as soon as possible. The leaders, led by Changamwe Wiper chairman Jackson Malii said the delay in conducting primaries is affecting the party.Addressing journalists, Malii said the party is losing aspirants to other rival parties because the process has not started.“The party leader should speed up primaries for the party. We are concerned about the state of affairs regarding the delayed party nominations. This delay is attracting negative media publicity and portraying the party as having internal wrangles,” Malii said.Malii also said Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar is a fitting candidate to be given the mandate to carry the party's flag in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat.“All Mombasa county based political aspirants are more affiliated to the senator than any other aspirant for gubernatorial seat,” he said.
Mr Omar will face off with Nyali MP Hezron Awiti in the primaries.
On Saturday, the Wiper Party nominations for Mombasa Governor were postponed indefinitely, with no clear reasons being given.
