Speaking in Machakos on Tuesday Kalonzo said this is not time for members to fight but a time for them to unite and support party manifesto.

Kalonzo said any member who is not willing to adhere to party rules is free to quit.

This comes after it emerged that some Wiper Party members are not happy with Cord leadership. Kalonzo is one of Cord principals.

Sources within the party allege that some members are ready to quit the party if Kalonzo does not run for the 2017 presidential polls.

A source within the party who sought anonymity said, “The current environment in the party is at tense, some members are ready to drop their membership if Kalonzo does not vie for the top seat.”

A section of members especially from Machakos say that they will only support the party if Kalonzo goes for presidency.

On Monday, Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi urged Kalonzo to vie for the presidency in 2017, stating that it is time for Kamba community to produce head of State.

Mwangangi urged Cord to support Kalonzo to vie for Presidency.
