Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has asked Cord leaders Moses Wetang'ula and Kalonzo Musyoka to step down and support Raila Odinga for 2017 elections.
According to Joho, Odinga's political experience and career makes him best suited to tackle Jubilee.
Speaking on Sunday during the memorial service for the late Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang' in Mbita constituency, Joho affirmed that presidential ambitions by Kalonzo and Wetang'ula was far fetched.
"Raila's political experience and wisdom is way better than Kalonzo's and Wetang'ula's and hence he (Raila) should be given Cord's flag-bearer position for 2017 election. I therefore call on both Kalonzo and Wetangu'la to stop wasting time and endorse Raila because he is the only candidate that can square it out with the Jubilee party come 2017 polls," said Joho.
"The sacrifices Raila has made for this country are a clear indication that he has the country's interests at heart and should become the next president of Kenya," said Joho," he added.
Joho's announcement could cause jitters in the Cord coalition considering that both Kalonzo and Wetang'ula have been endorsed by their primary parties.
