Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Ford Kenya counterpart have dismissed claims they are conspiring to foust the Cord leader Raila Odinga in the identification of the coalition's flag bearer.
This comes after a series of secret meetings between the duo which has sparked speculation to their agenda especially because both have expressed interests in contesting for the presidency.
It is believed that the two are planning a political plot to convince Raila not to vie and instead support either for the top seat and the other as the running mate.
Speaking on Tuesday, Kalonzo dismissed claims that he and Wetang'ula were crafting a political strategy to make Raila support them and termed the suspicions as 'unfounded falsehoods'. He said that it is not surprising since as Cord principals they meet regularly for consultations.
"I am aware of the conspiracy claims but they are all lies. We are united to send this Jubilee government home since it has only excelled in tribalism and epic corruption," Kalonzo said.
He said that they are working to identify the flag bearer who will befit the position to clinch to presidency and will soon unveil the candidate.
The co-chairmen are Siaya senators James Orengo (ODM) Machakos senator Johnson Muthama (Wiper) and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu (Ford Kenya).
"I don't know when the coalition will pick its presidential candidate. We are still consulting," Kalonzo added.
Wiper party officials have however asked Raila to honour the 2013 memorandum which indicated Kalonzo would endorse Raila for presidency in 2013 pending his endorsement in 2017.
Political analysts say the two want to declare themselves the presidential candidate and running mate respectively, and compel Raila to support and rally his troops behind them.
The two have held several meeting the latest being on July 31 at Kalonzo’s Yatta home in Machakos County before the burial of Mavoko MP's Father.
