Majority Leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale has told coalition for reforms and democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga that he will die politically if he lets Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka walk away before the next general election.
According to Duale, Kalonzo can deliver around 1.5 million votes to Raila as he strategizes to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta from office come 2017.
The outspoken parliamentarian warned Raila against endorsing Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho as running mate at the expense of Kalonzo.
The Garissa Town MP termed such a move political suicide. The flamboyant leader believes that Kalonzo and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula will boost Raila’s presidential bid than the coastal kingpin.
Speaking to residents in Changamwe in Mombasa on Sunday, Duale said that leaving Kalonzo for Joho is like committing political suicide.
“ Ati running mate yako ni Joho ndo utaanguka ile mbaya kabisa… Ati unawacha Kalonzo Musyoka ako na karibu 1.5 Millio Kuras… Unawacha huyu Wetangula mluhya… hujawahi kuanguka… Utaanguka until you break your skull,” Duale affirmed. Loosely translated: “If you pick Joho as your running mate and drop Kalonzo and Wetangula, You will terribly fail in 2017.” The appointment of Joho to lead Raila’s campaign team has caused discontent in Cord with some leaders accusing him of weakening the coalition.
