Members of Parliament from Ukambani who recently defected to the Jubilee Party will lose elections should they fail to apologize to the party, party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said.
The Wiper Democratic Movement witnessed mass defections with a faction led by Machokos Governor Alfred Mutua accusing the former VP of failing to negotiate a fair deal within the opposition.
And a furious Kalonzo on Sunday during his tour in Nyamira said he was sure that the legislators will lose their seats in 2017 polls and challenged them to reconcile with the party before the doors are ‘closed’.
“As wiper we embrace democracy but when you start jumping to another party without clear reasons then we cannot spare you. I am firmly in control of the party and nobody should cheat you that he or she is in charge,” he said referring to Governor Mutua.
“The defectors should prepare to lose their seats and that is the harsh reality. The Kamba people are intact in the opposition because we will form the next government. Those who are willing to come should do it quickly before we close the door,” he added.
Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, also a wiper member said the party’s internal discipline shall take course should the MPs fail to submit their monthly remittances.
“Hopefully even if they defected, they must pay monthly fee failure to which we will force them out of the party and force a by-election,” he said.
