Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka says Ukambani MPs who defected to the Jubilee Party had sensed defeat in their constituencies and had opted to join Jubilee as a consolation for their expected loss come August next year.

Kalonzo predicted that the lawmakers who defected will lose their seats in the 2017 elections.

According to the Star, the Cord co-principal termed the MPs' departure from Wiper as good riddance and likened their move to choosing between money and the box.

“Those MPs, who have joined Jubilee have just fast-tracked themselves out of Parliament and into political oblivion. Their departure is good riddance,” Kalonzo said as quoted by the Star.

He said the party is still strong. “If you want to know or test if it is a win or loss, can those who claim to have decamped give up our ticket and face the voters on their preferred party,” said the former vice president.

“It’s immoral for anybody whose party didn’t fold up and join the Jubilee Party to say he is part of Jubilee, while he hasn’t given up the ticket that took him to Parliament,” he said as quoted by the Star.

He said the party won't take disciplinary action against noting that voters will teach them a lesson come 2017.

“They don’t believe nor understand the political philosophy that brought them to Parliament. They are alone and not with the people,” Kalonzo said.

A number of legislators from the Kalonzo party have decamped to Jubilee and promised to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta wins the Kamba votes in the forthcoming polls.

Kalonzo spoke when he met with John Horsfall, a volunteer for Bread & Water for Africa, currently running from Mt Elgon to Kilifi to raise funds for Lewa Children’s Home.
