Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to follow in opposition leader Raila Odinga's footsteps.
Odinga on Wednesday visited former President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home in Nakuru county, a move he later said was a follow up on the ailing former head of state's health and his recent truce with President Kenyatta.
Addressing the press on Thursday, Musyoka urged Kenyatta to take a similar move and visit his predecessor whom he has not publicly met since his return from his recent medical trip to Israel.
"Other leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta should seek audience with the retired President whom he has not met since his return from Israel. I too will soon be seeking an appointment with him," said the former Vice President.
With the meeting already arousing reactions and upsetting a section of Jubilee politicians, a section of which is now questioning Odinga's recent meetings with politicians formerly opposed to him, Kalonzo noted that the latest meeting should not be given much weight.
The former Premier has since gone ahead to meet former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria after the initial one with President Kenyatta, causing jitters within Jubilee.
A section of Jubilee insiders, including Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, have since raised concerns that he could be laying out a foundation to run for the presidency come 2022, claims that Musyoka is opposed to.
"We should not try to read too much out of this. It is a positive move by Odinga and people should not be worried," he added.
