A section of leaders allied to Wiper Party have launched a scathing attack on Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, accusing him of taking advantage of the recent NASA rally in the county to drum up support for himself.
Wiper gubernatorial aspirant Swaleh Imu and senator aspirant Hassan Albeity have expressed their dissatisfaction, saying that the opposition’s rally did not achieve its main objectives as planned. The leaders said the rally was meant for all parties aligned to NASA and not ANC alone.“NASA has a big support base in Lamu including strong supporters of ODM, Wiper and Ford Kenya who felt slighted when the governor who is in ANC sidelined them to drum up support for himself,” said Albeity as quoted by Baraka FM. The aspirant also said that ANC does not have any supporters in the county, adding that Timamy does not have the interests of the alliance at heart.“To speak the truth, ANC has very little following in Lamu and for the governor to literally sideline other parties meant he did not have the interests of NASA at heart but only interested in recapturing his seat,” he added. The aspirant further said Timamy turned the rally into his event yet other leaders were also present.“The governor took advantage of his personal relationship with ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to popularize his re-election bid,” said Albeity. The event was attended by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula.
