Speaking to a local daily on Tuesday, Mathuki said former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti won the August 8, 2017, general elections.

Mathuki expressed confidence that Ndeti will beat Mutua hands down if a by-election is held.

"I can tell you for free, Wiper won that election. I would tell him not to go to the Supreme Court, let him come and face the people," Mathuki said.

He also dismissed claims that Wiper wants to form an alliance with Kenya National African Union (KANU) leader Gideon Moi ahead of 2022.

On his part, Mutua faulted the court for what he termed as a misunderstanding of findings presented to them.

“We are surprised by their finding. It is very clear they misunderstood what was presented before them. We are going to appeal to the Supreme Court. We are still in office. I will continue discharging my duties,” Mutua said.

Mutua has insisted that he won the last general election.

He has maintained that he will not relent in the fight against corruption.
