James Mbaluka, who is eyeing the Kibwezi West Constituency was arraigned and charged in Makindu law courts on Thursday over the matter. The aspirant was taken to court for engaging in an act that disrupted peace.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Gerald Mutiso and state counsel Tito Wanga, the politician pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
The vocal aspirant is said, to have committed the offense on Monday after he caused chaos at a meeting planned at Mulala in the Assistant County Commissioner's office in which elderly persons aged 70 years and above were being registered for a cash program.
The aspirant was freed on a bond of Sh20, 000 pending hearing, but his supporters clashed with those allied to the incumbent Patrick Musimba where Mbalaku was addressing his supporters.
A witness claims that the aspirant directed his supporters to pull down President Uhuru Kenyatta’s posters leading to commotion. The incident occurred at a time when leaders from different political outfits are calling upon their supporters and opponents to maintain peace before, during and after the August general elections for the sake of tomorrow.
