Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu has called for an end to 2022 succession debates.
Mbalu said the debates are unnecessary stating that politicians should focus their energies on serving their electorates.
The Wiper legislator accused politicians of disregarding their work and spending much time discussing 2022 polls.
She said the country’s development agenda is at risk if politicians will not stop the succession debates.
“Kenyans are tired of politics. It is important for elected leaders to know that and focus on service delivery,” Mbalu said.
Mbalu addressed the press in Kibwezi town on Wednesday.
She observed that the country is yet to fully recover from last year’s prolonged election process.
Mbalu asked politicians to be responsible and put their time on solving issues facing the country.
“We as leaders need to discuss on issues facing Kenyan’s now especially floods, lecturers strike and unemployment instead of politicking about 2022,” Mbalu added.
The Kibwezi East MP called on President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to help put an end to the debates.
She said politicians should support the push for national unity instead of prematurely arguing on 2022 politics.
The 2022 succession debates are gaining heat as politicians argue on who should succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta once his term comes to an end.
