Makueni county boss has said that he will be retiring from active politics as his Machakos counterpart goes for the nation’s top seat in 2022.

According to Kibwana, he will not be involved in matters of politics once he completes his second term in office following his re-election on Wiper Party ticket after crossing over from Muungano Party.

“This will be my last term. Once I complete it, there is no turning back. I will have quit active politics,” said Prof Kibwana when he took the oath of office, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Prof Kibwana, a former lecturer at the University of Nairobi, has already declared his support for Wiper Party boss Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as he seeks to ascend to power when that time comes.

Kibwana, who is the acting chairman of the party, has said that he will rally the electorate behind Kalonzo until he becomes the next head of state. Alongside other leaders from the region, Kibwana has said that he will not sit back and watch Kalonzo shortchanged in the race for the Presidency.

On his part, Mutua has affirmed that his Presidential dream is valid. The second term county boss has said that he will pull a surprise in 2022 and he has what it takes to lead this nation.
