Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is expected to fly direct to home of his late political confidant Francis Nyenze ahead of his burial upon arrival from Germany.
According to The Star, the former Vice President will be in the nation for less than 24 hours before getting back to Germany after the burial to attend to his wife, Pauline, who has been sick for some time.
The Nasa running mate in the August General election is expected to touch down this morning before flying directly to Nyenze’s funeral in Kitui.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, NASA Principals Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are among the leaders who are likely to attend the burial of the late politician in Ukambani.
A source also revealed that Kalonzo will meet Raila, Mudavadi, and Wetangula before taking his flight back to Germany.
“He (Kalonzo) will fly back on Wednesday. I think he is only coming for the burial of late Nyenze,” said senior Wiper party official, as quoted by The Star.
This return of Kalonzo comes weeks after the opposition postponed the swearing of Former Prime Minister.
It is said that the plans of swearing in Raila into power were delayed until Kalonzo returns from Germany.
“With Kalonzo Musyoka, who would have been sworn in as Deputy President, out of the country, and with his Wiper Party asking that the swearing-in be delayed until his return, the postponement was the only option that existed,” said Salim Lone, Raila political advisor.
