Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s fight to succeed National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga has continued to experience several setbacks.
The battle of the former president to become the president has been dealt another blow after Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said that its is either him or his Mombasa Counterpart to contest for the nation’s top post come 2022.
Kalonzo will have to square it out with the two leaders before he can succeed Raila.
Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has also expressed his interest in the seat. Kingi said Coast still stands a chance of producing a president as Ronald Ngala had projected.
“Although the late Ngala did not succeed in his efforts, today another chance for Coast is coming up. I am officially declaring that either me or my brother Hassan Joho will be in the presidential ballot in 2022."
He also said that he will discuss with Joho before deciding whether to contest or not.
“After Joho is sworn-in, we will go for a retreat and the main discussion will be on who will go for the seat. From the retreat, we shall come out with one voice which we shall relay to the people of Kilifi and the Coast region as a whole."
