Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is walking a tightrope ahead of the Kitui West by-election following the demise of Former MP Francis Nyenze.
The former vice President has maintained that he is not in a position to endorse any candidate for the post. The remarks of the Ukambani political kingpin come after a section of the leaders from the region vowed to rally the electorate behind Nyenze’s wife, Edith.
Led by Makueni county boss Kivutha Kibwana and his Kitui counterpart, Charity Ngilu, the leaders said that Edith has what it takes to replace her deceased husband. Kalonzo has, however, refused to endorse her for the seat saying that he wants to give each of the candidates a level ground ahead of the rerun.“No, no I don’t want to take that root my sister Ngilu. I mitigate carefully before making any decision. Let’s give all aspirants a level chance to seek the party nomination to build confidence and trust in the party now and in days to come,” Kalonzo replied before shifting to national politics, as quoted by Standard.Kalonzo is expected to marshal members of his party to ensure that Wiper retains the seat when that time comes.
