Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced his presidential ambition in 2022 general elections.
With the opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) currently battling a possible disintegration, Kalonzo who was banking on his co-principals' support might be forced to restrategize.
Coming amid a possible expulsion of Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Party (ODM) from the coalition, Kalonzo, being the NASA second in command could consider refurbishing the block to restrengthen it to enable him realize the dream.
Raila is facing allegations of betrayal with regards to his recent secret peace pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta, with the Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya member blocs vowing to exclude his party, a move that could benefit Kalonzo.
Should that fail, the immediate former Vice President could consider embarking on a new alliance formation to reinforce his bid.
This will not only enable him get new friends who could sway the voter in his favour, but will also place him at the top of the new establishment, giving him the biggest say unlike currently in NASA.
Also, he has the option of shelving or postponing his bid and endorsing another candidate on a condition that himself, his party and followers are considered should the bid sail through.
