Wiper leader's decision to make a U-turn in Raila Odinga's planned inauguration was informed by 2022 succession politics, reveals a Nyamira MP.

Reports from local media had indicated that Kalonzo is opposed to the inauguration and has secretly been pushing for dialogue.

"We are giving Uhuru Kenyatta few days to engage us or we proceed with the swearing-in plans," he said on Friday at people's assembly in Machakos.

But miles away in Bonyunyu, Nyamira, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi said Wiper's decision to change tune was informed by 2022 race.

In the recent past, Momanyi, a second term Wiper MP, has been on the front opposing the oath taking.

"Sometimes people change strategy and that is the case of Wiper. As a party, we think the swearing in is uncalled for.

"However, this is politics and we must start preparing for 2022," he told mourners in Bonyunyu, a direct indication that Wiper is interested in inheriting Raila's support base.

At Machakos, a charged Raila urged Kalonzo's handlers to first 'deal' with 2017 issues before focusing on 2022 game.
