Kalonzo, former vice president, spoke at the Diani showground after traversing Kwale County as the opposition seeks to dethrone Jubilee from power in August.

The Ukambani dismissed claims that residents of this region have not been turning up in large numbers in the last general elections.

“Their narrative is that you don’t come out in large numbers so that we don’t win. Last time it was 60 per cent turnout, this time it should reach 85 per cent,” said Kalonzo, as quoted by Standard.

Raila, on his part, said that Jubilee defeated the opposition because they rigged the polls, and they received sympathy votes because of their cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC) based at The Hague in Netherland.

“Jubilee did not defeat us . . . they stole and got sympathy votes because of ICC. Kenyans were then also ignorant on the duo’s character but now that they are known it will be hard for them,” he said.
