Speaking on Wednesday morning to a local radio station, Mugenda said that the only legal occupants of the land are the ones living in the 30 acres allocated by the government.

"All the rest who are living outside the 30 acres either grabbed the land or it was sold to them through corrupt means," said Mugenda.

The university boss warned those who bought the land while fully aware that it belonged to the institution of a looming problem.

"We went to the National Land Commission and proved ownership of the land as we had the title deed," she said.

Mugenda also refuted claims that she has been harassing the squatters to vacate the land.

"Before I became KU vice chancellor, my predecessors were still following on this land,” she said.

The squatters on the other hand have vowed not to move an inch.
