Starehe MP Maina Kamanda has sensationally claimed that media mogul S. K. Macharia plans to rig in opposition leader Raila Odinga in this year's elections.
On Tuesday, Macharia, who represented Media Owners Association in the Senate legal committee on the controversial amendments of election laws, maintained that the country should embrace electronic voting system.
In an interview with Kameme FM on Wednesday, Maina accused Macharia of plotting to use technology to manipulate elections in favour of Odinga.
'It is now clear that Macharia is planning to rig elections in favour of Raila using technology. They know that Jubilee cannot lose the elections and that is why he is defending his friend on this matter," he said.
"I am shocked that he can go ahead and claim that Raila won 2007 elections after a decade. He should have done that many years ago. We have known his plans and as Jubilee, we will fight to ensure manual voting system is accepted as backup to electronic system," he said.
The government is at loggerheads with opposition over voting method to be used, maintaining that manual backup is necessary for electronic system, contrary to the demands of the opposition.
