Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar and her Murang'a counterpart Irungu Kang'ata have been appointed temporary senate speakers.This appointments according to Senate deputy speaker Kithure Kindiki are aimed at ensuring no vacuum is created in the house in the event he and the speaker, Kenneth Lusaka, are absent."They (Kamar and Kang'ata) will be acting as speakers of the House when the leadership is not in until there is a speaker's panel," Kindiki said on Tuesday.While moving a motion for the adoption of the two, the Tharaka Nithi senator expressed confidence with Kamar saying she has served before in various leadership positions."Kamar has served in various leadership capacities both in academia and political spheres. During her stint as an MP, she was a member of the speaker's panel in the National Assembly," He said.The Jubilee senator also lauded Kang'ata noting he is not only a good lawyer but also vocal and articulate.Elgeyo Marakwet senator who doubles up as the senate majority leader also expressed confidence with the two Jubilee senators.Election of the four temporary speakers could not take place as NASA did not submit two names due to their ongoing boycotting of the House activities.
