The Kamba Community has created a new headache for governor aspirants in Mombasa County.
The community has threatened to field their own candidate if denied a bigger share in the county government.
Led by Kamba Community spokesman Philip Ndolo, the Kambas said they have a significant number of votes and should not therefore, be taken for granted.
Speaking on Monday, Ndolo said that though they support the Jubilee government, they will work with anyone in the county who recognises them.
"We have had several meetings and we have decided if we are not recognised, we will come up with our own candidate and rally the upcountry votes," said Ndolo as quoted by The Star.
Ndolo claimed that the Jubilee government had neglected the community, and demanded prominent positions.
"We want to be well represented and given prominent positions in Jubilee at the Coast,” he added.
