Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said the Kamba community needs 'real' and all inclusive unity talks, not 'fake' meetings meant to satisfy individuals' narrow political interests.
Mutua, who skipped the Monday's Kamba Leaders Unity meeting convened by a section of local leaders at Komarock in Matungulu sub county, said it is high time the community thinks of convening an all-inclusive forum for open and constructive talks which will benefit the community's social, economic and political interests.
The county boss who has declared his interest in presidency come 2022 described the Komarock meeting as 'a gathering of self-seeking politicians' whose main agenda is to use the community to achieve selfish political gains.
"Komarock meeting was an exclusive Wiper affair. A genuine Ukambani unity meeting should not be a political party affair," Mutua said.
He accused the former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama, the convenor of the said meeting of speaking against the leadership of Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
Mutua claimed Muthama clearly said Wiper did not want any involvement with MCCP, which he heads as its chairman and brain child.
"How do those of us who are not in Wiper expected to attend a function where we were not given an opportunity to contribute to its planning?" Mutua posed.
In a recent opinion survey by Ipsos Synovate, Kalonzo was ranked at par with Mutua in overall approval ratings with reference to presidential aspirants for 2022 general election.
