A group of Kamba elders has endorsed incumbent Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero in his bid to run for a second term.
Kidero together with his deputy Jonathan Mueke met more than 100 Kamba elders led by Sam Mumbi assured Kidero of their support in a meeting attended by NASA principal Moses Wetang’ula.
The Kamba elders said that they will stand behind Kidero to ensure his victory for a second term as the governor of Nairobi.
“Those who lost in the party primaries should be humble and support the governor and his deputy. We will influence the Kamba community to rally behind Mueke,” said Mumbi.
The elders criticized the Jubilee Party saying that it had nominated only one Kamba as compared to NASA which had five and urged for unity among NASA Party.
Kidero has retained Mr Mueke as his running mate in an attempt to seal the Kamba support.
“In 2022, I will endorse Mueke for Nairobi governor and if my time will be up as governor, I will endorse whoever the coalition picks,” said Kidero.
The Nairobi governor promised to roll out goodies to the Kamba community.
