According to former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, today's meeting is important and will provide a way forward for the Kamba community moving forward.

Speaking to journalists in Machakos Town on Sunday, Muthama said that it is time the Kamba community to unite and strategize for 2022.

The former senator said that all Kamba leaders, elders, clergy, and locals have been invited to the meeting to take place in Matungulu constituency.

Muthama dismissed claims that the meeting is a Wiper party affair, adding that those spreading the claims are being malicious.

"We invited everyone and it is unfortunate that some people have already started to spread propaganda, " he said.

On Sunday, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua said that his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party will not be part and parcel of the meeting.

Governor Mutua said that the meeting is a Wiper Party affair.

"How do they expect us to attend and be part of a meeting that is branded with their (Wiper party) colors," Mutua said on Sunday.

The Machakos governor added that he was not widely consulted on the planned today's meeting.

According to Matungulu MP Stephen Mule, the meeting is crucial for the Kamba community.
