Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has downplayed and rubbished fears that Ukambani could bolt out of the National Super Alliance (NASA) after Kalonzo Musyoka was not named as the Alliance flag bearer.

Malombe says that Ukambani is firmly in NASA and cannot be swayed by anyone to bolt out.

Speaking in Kitui on Tuesday, Malombe said that Kambas are in support of NASA presidential line-up unveiled last week.

The Kitui governor hit out at some politicians who have been questioning and lamenting on the NASA line up accusing them of serving their own personal interests.

Malombe stated that Kalonzo’s position in NASA is welcomed and supported by the region.

He said that Kalonzo’s position will enable ascend to power in the 2022 general election. “Let no one claim that Kambas are unhappy with the NASA line up because that is not true,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.

Malombe said that if Kalonzo has accepted to deputize Raila then no one should question his decision.

“As Kambas we are not only looking at the August polls because there is much for the community in the coming years,” he said.

There has been murmurs and disgruntlement among some Ukambani politicians allied to Kalonzo in regards to the NASA line up.

Last week, Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze and Senator David Musila claimed that Kambas got a raw deal in the NASA agreement.

The lawmakers further claimed that they were shortchanged saying that Kalonzo was the right candidate to fly the NASA ticket.

Kalonzo has however dismissed the MPs concerns and urged them to support the NASA presidential lineup.
