Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka had a bad day in Kitui. The NASA presidential running mate was booed while speaking during the burial of Senator David Musila’s mother.
The ugly scenes erupted when Musyoka tried to distance himself from the Kitui gubernatorial tussle that saw Musila lose to the incumbent Julius Malombe. He was accused of rigging out Musila.
“I am always an honest and transparent person. I’m stating clearly that I wasn’t involved. We have a long history. When Musila resigned as Wiper chairman and ditched the party, I refused to reply to his letter,” Kalonzo said as quoted by the Star.
The Wiper boss also promised to receive back Musila in case he loses to Julius Malombe. According to Musyoka, Musila will only lose his chairmanship if he wins as an independent candidate.
“If he wins as Governor, well and good. But if he doesn’t, then he will have to come back and resume his seat in Wiper party as chairman,” Musyoka said.
The two senators were urged by Kitui women representative Nyiva Mwendwa to change their decisions and rejoin Wiper.
“You are some of the strongest pillars. As pioneers of Wiper, I can’t sit and watch the house cave in,” Mwendwa said as quoted by the Star.
