Aspiring Borabu MP Nyandoro Kambi has challenged the county government of Nyamira to consider improving medical services by fully equipping all medical facilities.
Speaking on Monday at Nyansiongo during a free eye checkup staged by Nyandoro Kambi Foundation, the renowned Philanthropist noted many hospitals in the region were still under-equipped, making it difficult for area residents to receive quality services.
“I want to challenge the county government to improve medical services in all hospitals and dispensaries so that our people can get quality services,” Kambi said.
“Many of our people are forced to seek medical services in the neighboring Kisii and Bomet counties because our facilities are under-equipped. We want more drugs and ambulances dispatched to save many lives lost out here,” he added.
He said many hospitals were understaffed making it difficult for the existing staffs to serve people optimally.
“I have individually traversed the county and I can testify that many of these medical facilities have every few personnel and this isn’t a good way to go. The county government should recruit more personnel in 2016/17 budget so that we combat the under-staffing crisis,” added. Kambi.
He also challenged the county government to instill disciplinary measures against officials who were allegedly smuggling drugs from public hospitals.
“I also laud the government for its effort to fight drug smuggling from our hospitals and take a stiff action against the perpetrators,” he said.
