A section of farmers drawn from Kamenu Ward in Kiambu County have now called upon Governor Ferdinand Waititu to ensure that he sets aside funds that will boost milk farming in the area.
According to the farmers, they have been producing a lot of milk that have been going into a waste and the County would be of help if it provides them with coolers that will see them transport the mild for long distances to sell.
Led by nominated MCA Ann Wambui, the farmers said that the county government have neglected them despite the fact that they have been pushing for empowerment as well as funds to boost their business.
"There are a lot of dairy farmers in Kamenu area and Kiambu at large and most of them have been counting loses due to lack of storage facilities before reaching the market. There is need for Kiambu to ensure that the milk sector is empowered," said Wambui
The MCA, however, urged the farmers to start small groups as she pushes the county government to release funds to them so that they can boost their lucrative venture.
"I know the county can easily release funds to the farmers if the farmers can create small groups and I will ensure Kiambu County gives them funds," said Wambui
