Hussein, speaking at Kiganjo Trading Centre on Wednesday, said that many of the contractors did a shoddy job which is now evident on various roads.

"Many of these roads are even worse than they were before the facelift. There is no way these rogue contractors can be paid for doing such a wanting job. They will have to re-do them and show us the value of our money," Hussein said.

Hussein said that the contractors hurried to complete the job which has now turned disastrous.

"We can now see where all that hurry has ended. The roads are substandard to say the least," Hussein observed.

The MCA has echoed various residents' sentiments who have also expressed dissatisfaction with the freshly upgraded roads.

"They poured some murram filled with clay soil and thought that it would work. Now the roads are worse than they were," Paul Njami, a bodaboda rider said.

"I was optimistic that the roads would last us during and after the rains but it all seems to be in vain because the roads have turned to be a disappointment," Geoffrey Gachomo, a resident said.

Some of the worst affected roads include Kiganjo-Kiang'ombe, Murimo-Kiganjo, Athena-Runda among others.
