Through his lawyer Kipkoech Ngetich, Kamket filed the application before the Employment and labour relations court seeking to have his impeachment and subsequent removal from office declared illegal.

On March 20, Justice Stephen Radido issued stay orders against his removal pending hearing and determination of the suit in which he was challenging his purported ouster.

In papers filed in court Kamket averred that the county assembly was without a substantive speaker even after an Eldoret court quashed his suspension on Wednesday last week.

He urged the court to review the orders to be in line with those issued by the Eldoret high court so as declare his reinstatement to avoid crippling the assembly’s operations.

Ngetich told the court that the speaker should be allowed to resume his duties as his removal was stayed by the same court.

Kamket was suspended off all duties as speaker of the Baringo County Assembly in 2014 after the government accused him of inciting communities in Kapedo area, Baringo County leading to loss of lives.

Members of County Assembly later voted to remove Kamket from office over the criminal case he faced alongside two MCAs prompting him to move to the high court to challenge his suspension.

The three have been charged in connection with the violence, where more than 20 police officers were killed.
