Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan has sent his end year message thanking constituents for standing with him through the thick of the year.

Speaking through his Facebook page on Sunday, Hassan thanked residents of Kamukunji for always being there for him and appreciated their vote even when he didn't have the strength to campaign.

Here is the message:

GRATITUDE

It has been bitter- sweet year but as we approach the tail-end of 2017, I’ve a lot to be grateful for.

I had the opportunity to defend my Kamukunji seat in the August 2017 elections and the privilege and honor of being re-elected for the third term to the Kenyan parliament. My thanks to the thousands of Kamukunjians who voted for me.

In November, I had the last rod or piece of metal successfully removed from my leg at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

I’m grateful to Dr Robert Rozbruch, my special surgeon, who salvaged my leg and helped restore my shattered life, following the serious injuries I sustained in the 2012 bomb attack in Eastleigh. He’s no doubt the best orthopedic surgeon in the world.

Wishing you all a new year of joy, good health, friendship, warmth, love and peace.
