Friends School Kamusinga began the campaign to reclaim their regional hockey title with a 2-0 win against defending champions Musingu High.

The match was scheduled to kick off at 2 pm with all the teams anticipating to clinch the title.

Alex Taiswa scored both goals for Kamusinga in the 13th and 35th minute respectively. 

Kamusinga will next face Kolanya High School from Busia County while Musingu will be up against Nyangori from Vihiga County.

It was the defending champions who started on a high note getting a penalty after 10 minutes but goalkeeper Samuel Olang saved the flick from danger man Ian Olando 

Kamusinga stuck to their game plan pressing hard with the likes of Emanuel Taiswa and Delvin Wanagwe putting pressure on the Musingu defense with attempts on target but to no avail.

The second half began with the twelve -time champions showing no signs of reluctance even as Taiswa continued to torment the Musingu defense.

Things got worse for Musingu in the 35th minute when Taiswa scored the second and defender Duncan Abdulla got injured after being hit on the face by the goal scorer forcing him to be taken off.
