Kamwangi Boda Boda Motor Riders Association chairman Jesse Mwaura has urged bodaboda operators to register with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Mwaura said health coverage is an important asset to bodaboda operators .
“You should have NHIF as it has benefited many people who are unable to meet their medical bills,” said Mwaura.
Speaking on Tuesday at Kamwangi Shopping Centre during the enrolment of bodaboda operators with NHIF, Mwaura urged all bodaboda operators to be enrolled with the national insurance cover.
“ Due to the dangers being associated with our industry, we all need to have a medical cover that will help us offset medical bills in case of an accident,” said Maura.
Mwaura said that NHIF monthly contribution is reasonable hence making it affordable to low income earners.
“With Sh150 a month guarantees you to access both inpatient and out patient cover in case of a minor or a serious accident,” said Mwaura.
Gloria Nyaga an official from NHIF urged the bodaboda operators to give more interest to the national health coverage as it has helped most of them access quality and affordable health care.
“ NHIF cover has been effective tool of accessing quality health care,” said Nyaga.
Nyaga however urged bodaboda operators to contribute their monthly premiums on time.
“Delaying in forwarding monthly premiums accounts a penalty,” explains Ngaga.
Nyaga also urged bodaboda operators to be careful on roads to avoid accidents .
“ Most of hospital bed occupancy are bodaboda operators; I urge you to ride carefully so that you can minimise accidents,” said Nyaga.
The enrolment saw more than 100 bodaboda operators register with NHIF.
