Central region has many slogans that emanate from what artists sing about, locations and names given to people.
Kamwangi Town bachelors have developed a name ‘Kihiki understanding’ which means an understanding woman. They have developed the name from a recently produced secular song by Sam Wa Kiambo who gives an outline of the qualities he wants in a woman.
The bachelors who are aspiring to marry soon have, following the song's release, developed a routine of asking ladies; ‘wi kihiki understanding?’ which means (are you an understanding woman?).
The phrase has also led to many ladies reducing their man quality demands like money, size and future aspirations of a man. In this context, the song has become as popular as it’s played by bodaboda operators, in hotels, pubs and even kiosks.
In Kikuyu land, women are fond of having priorities in a man before they decide to get married by them. Many women end up being unmarried because of too many demands. Some of these demands are a well built and furnished house, a man who is driving, and a well-established man financially.
It’s out of this situation that the artist came up with the song in reverse of ladies demands.
Next time ladies come to Kamwangi town and get to hear about the phrase Kihiki understanding, never go surprise.
It only means an understanding woman who Kikuyu men yearn for.
