Locals within Kandutura village in Rongai have decried the rising wave of crime in the area following a series of murders.
Speaking at Laini tano in Visoi location, the over 500 residents who had protested cited complacency of the security officers within the area for failing to curb the runaway crime.
This comes days after a 78-year-old woman was strangled to death moments after she was raped inside her house.
No suspect has been arrested over the incident.
They pointed fingers at the local chief Ezekiel Kinyua over change of facts of the death when he wrote a letter to the effect that the woman died of high blood pressure.
Efforts to reach the chief over the claims were futile.
