A driver facing seven counts of traffic related offenses was on Friday slapped with Sh1 million bond by a Kangundo court.

Kangundo Senior Principal Magistrate Desderius Orimba however gave the accused person, Alexander Kyalo Musau the option of paying Sh500,000 cash bail after he denied five counts of causing death through dangerous driving. 

Musau was also charged with driving uninsured vehicle and also driving without a driver's license, which he also denied. 

Lawyer Musyoki Kioko, for the accused had pleaded with the court to be lenient while setting bail terms, arguing his client was still undergoing treatment. 

Musau narrowly escaped death last month after the car he was driving rolled in a self-involved accident near Malaa shopping center along Kangundo - Nairobi highway. 

However five of his passengers died on the spot. The case comes up for hearing on September 8.
