Drivers operating in Kangundo, Machakos County have been warned against tampering with the speed governors fitted in their vehicles.
Speaking on Wednesday in his office, Kangundo traffic police base commander Mr Davis Okisai said that whoever will be found flouting traffic rules would be arrested and brought to book.
He further disclosed that some drivers are known to be tampering with the speed governors and added that a serious crackdown will be initiated soon to prevent accidents that could be avoided.
"A lot of accidents caused by Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) occur due to speeding and that is because some drivers interfere with the speed governors not knowing they only make matters worse,” Said Okisai.
The officer further said that the police will be working closely with The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers to inspect PSVs fitted with digital speed governors.
Okisai asked drivers to stop tampering with the speed governors as it posed danger not only to them, but also to the passengers on board.
He urged drivers to adhere to the laid down traffic rules and regulations in a bid to ensure safety on the roads.
