A middle aged man was arrested on Thursday in Syanthi market Kwa Akamba location in Kangundo Sub-County with vehicle spare parts believed to have been stolen since he could not account for them.
Muema Muisyo, 37, was arrested at the bus stage as he was loading the spare parts into one of the vehicles.
Confirming the incident in Syanthi market, the area Chief Bethwel King’ele stated there has been a rise in cases of stolen vehicle parts reported in Kangundo region.
He stated that the suspect had been arrested and is being detained at Kangundo police station.
“We have arrested Muema Muisyo who had vehicle spare parts together with other metallic objects which he did not have receipts for,” said King’ele.
The chief further asked the residents who have lost such property to go to the police station and check if their stolen vehicle parts could be among them.
Muisyo is reported to have been in the possession of sufurias and old mobile phones among other things.
This follows a stern warning to the illegal used car parts dealers by the area police boss Joseph Chesire. Chesire last week cautioned against the sale stating that it was encouraging vehicle parts theft in the area.
Muisyo will be held at Kangundo police station as police carry out investigations.
