Traders in Kangundo Sub-County are today (Wednesday) expected to march in the streets over high license fees.
This follows a one month notice expiry issued to Kangundo administrator, Ann Masai, to address high license fees.
Speaking on Tuesday while addressing traders who had gathered in Kangundo town, Kangundo Traders Association chairman, Christopher Kyalo, urged traders not to open their businesses on Wednesday as the protest is still on.
“On Wednesday we will not open our businesses; we will be holding demonstration over the high taxes by the county government,” said Kyalo.
Kyalo further said that they have tried reaching the town administrator in a bid to solve the issue but the officer did not avail herself.
Kyalo insisted that they will hold a peaceful demonstration hence urging all business people to participate.
“We have the warrant and all the right documents from the authority to carry out the demonstrations. We will not cause chaos,” said Kyalo.
Meanwhile, Donyo Sabuk and Matungulu traders will be matching to Kinyui grounds to seek audience from the political leaders who will be having a meeting in the area.
These protests follow heightened license fee by Machakos County Government.
