Youth groups which had applied for Uwezo Fund in Kangundo Sub-County, Machakos County, have been asked to start repaying the loan at the end of the six months grace period.
Speaking in her office on Monday, Kangundo youth officer Winnie Katelo, said that although many youth groups had applied for the fund, many of them had not started repaying the loan after the grace period ended.
The officer also confirmed that out of the twenty groups that benefited from the fund, only one group had started repaying the loan.
Katelo said the repayment account had little money yet there are other pending applicants that need funding.
"I would wish to request the groups that received Uwezo Fund to start repaying the money so that other pending applicants can benefit from the fund since its an evolving fund,” said Katelo.
The officer also encouraged the youths to apply for Youth Fund adding that the youth should be aggressive and make use of the money lying in Youth Fund bank accounts.
"A lot of money is lying in the Youth Fund account that could help the youth. They only need to avail themselves and apply for it,” added Katelo.
